My Portfolio

Unfortunately, due to the nature of web applications, most of the systems I've created don't lend themselves to being displayed. You can see some of the web design (rather than web development) projects I've completed below, some of which do contain interactive elements...

Note: Much like a builder doesn't do DIY on his own house, I'm afraid I haven't found time to update my portfolio recently. I'll be adding another ten or so case studies in March, but in the meantime if you'd like to see more examples please don't hesitate to ask. Two of my recent (as at December) website launches are Tek-Dek Opens in new window and Genuine Support Opens in new window

Mark has been able to answer every single dumb question I have thrown at him, and always within 24 hours at the most. He is knowledgeable, accessible and friendly. I hate him.

Philip Bird

PhilipBird.net Screengrab

Actor and writer Philip Bird asked me to build him an official website to help make his details and previous credits more accessible to casting directors.

The result is this smart, minimalist website. Visitors can move between the sections via the tabs at the top. There's a gallery of photos incorporated and Philip can update his personal message to fans via an online editing tool. www.philipbird.net

Mark has created a professional looking website which has cut my costs... plus new customers are coming into the nursery and saying "I found you via the web"!

I don't know anything about computers but with Mark that doesn't matter.

Graham Hutchins

CountyParkNursery.co.uk Screengrab

County Park Nursery is an award-winning specialist nursery in Essex which breeds and sells Australian, New Zealand and Tasmanian plants.

Owner Graham Hutchins was looking for a way of cutting the costs associated with printing and distributing his annual plant list - this website is the solution. The interactive version of his catalogue allows customers to access the nursery stock list.

Thanks to the search engine optimisation that I've carried out the website has not only cut Graham's costs but has also increased his sales. www.countyparknursery.co.uk

Mark has built a website which projects exactly the right image for our business. We regularly receive positive feedback from customers. The website is a key part of our marketing strategy.

Rob Giorgi

ThePalmTrees.co.uk Screengrab

Rob and Jane Giorgi, the owners of The Palm Trees (a Spanish holiday apartment) were quick to spot the potential that the internet can offer in terms of attracting bookings.

The Palm Trees website provides visitors with information about the apartment and uses photos to show off what a great place it is to stay. The interactive floor plan allows potential guests to see exactly what is where within the rooms. www.thepalmtrees.co.uk

I'm absolutely delighted with the website that Mark has provided for us and the response from users has been universally positive. Mark has done everything we asked for and more, his advice has been spot-on. I couldn't be happier with the final result.

Philip Ower

PerioCourses.co.uk Screengrab

Periodontal lecturers Philip Ower and Graham Smart wanted a website that allowed them to explain the courses they offer and provide additional material to course participants.

I worked closely with Phil and Graham to create PerioCourses.co.uk - the features include a mailing list and course diary.

A major part of the website is the Participants' Area. These password-protected pages allow those that have attended one of Phil and Graham's courses to login and download copies of the lecture slides, videos and more. www.periocourses.co.uk

The BSG is a great resource. What makes it special is that it is easy to read and find what you are looking for.

Because the interactive features have all been custom built everything fits together nicely and looks consistent.

CS, A BSG Visitor

Sitcom.co.uk Screengrab

The British Sitcom Guide is one of a few websites which I personally own and run. I have included it here as it is an example of a larger website that I have worked on.

The BSG is made up of thousands of pages and is visited by around 50,000 comedy fans each month. Clearly a website of this size needs plenty of interactive features to help it run smoothly so behind the scenes I have built a complex customised content management system which allows myself and the other editors to publish and manage news items, competitions, advertisements, programme guides and much more. www.sitcom.co.uk
